Interpreting Pain with Jesus
Your greatest pain, disorientation, discomfort, and disruption are always the next best conversation with Jesus.
In the vulnerability of your pain, God is exposing your neediness, your longing, and inviting you deeper with Him. Simultaneously, the enemy is running a customized propaganda campaign to deceive and suffocate your heart.
Hate your job? Can't stop fighting with your spouse? Sick and tired of feeling sick and tired?
God has a message for you here. And so does the enemy.
Sifting through those and synthesizing a true narrative on your situation is only possible when you invite Him in (and He loves to support us with discerning brothers and sisters if you have any available).
If you spend an hour with Jesus and these questions... you'll likely experience some seismic movement in your heart and mind.
At a really simple level here's the reality that underpins these questions:
Situation (the facts) >>>
Interpretation (the narrative you synthesize about the situation) >>>
Maturation (allow Jesus to expose areas you've agreed with the enemy's interpretation of your situation, receive His truth, healing, and freedom here)
What's the most painful part of life right now? Where do you feel disappointed, afraid, worn-out?
Take these questions to God. Sit and listen.
- What are the facts?
- What is God up to?
- What is the enemy after?
- What is my narration of this? Thoughts and messages surrounding it?
- What are my feelings?
- What does my interpretation reveal about what I believe?
- How is this connected to my story?
(e.g. “This reminds me of…”, “I felt like this when…”, “This may be connected with…”)
- What do you want to heal and integrate?
- What other parts of my heart are at play here?
- How are You wanting to initiate me here?
